Special interest day to Drayton Manor
June 2008
Drayton Manor
Everyone said they had a good time - the guide was excellent, being the archivist for the family. The house has been in the same family occupation since 1300, and has never been sold or leased. It's still lived in as a family home so the intimacy of such a grand house was fascinating.
Two of the photos were taken of the house, showing the grandeur of the current building and the guide told us of the development through the ages. The photo of the Knight and his Lady was from the church in Lowick village. This is the family church but outside the domain of the house and grounds.

We started the day with coffee and a preparatory talk in the village hall and an excellent lunch was arranged at the Snooty Fox, the pub in Lowick.
Our thanks go to Angela White who organised everything superbly.
